The Story

The very beginning...
Not all that long ago (in the year 2008) there was a mother of a very small child.  Their days were filled with playing outside, car rides, visiting relatives house chores and... boredom.  Her mom loved to sew, I mean really loved it!  So much so that her best friend and her decided to host home parties filled with all their beautiful hand-made handbags.  It was a great experience but as life goes with the addition of more children and jobs they started doing less and less parties.

After a while mom had a hard time not having a little something for herself and being home all the time now with two little ones.  While she would not trade anything in the world for her time with her children she still felt that something was missing.  She had an entrepreneurial spirit and hoped to one day open a business but knew it would not be for a long time until after the kids were grown and off on their own.  But as luck would have it a space became available in the family rental business and mom started to think.  Ideas started to surface and before her family knew it she had it painted and ready to go.  The initial idea was to have a space in which to share her love of sewing with anyone who cared to learn or sew too.  She wanted to share her bags and designs as well.  Of course her kids were most important and so they gladly came along and played in their brand new play room with lots of toys and bright sunflower yellow walls.

Eight months flew by and dad came to mom one day and said, "I found a great space in a great location that I think would be perfect for you!"  Mom got a big ole smile on her face and jumped up and down like one of the kids (not really physically but inside she certainly was.)  Her mind started to turn and then she stopped jumping because a new space in a busy location meant that this was serious now...then she started to have second thoughts, can she do it? will it work? what about the sunflower yellow walls in the bright kids room!  Dad convinced her that it was a good idea to check out the space before getting to many thoughts about it.  The visit proved to be love at first sight and the real clincher was the awesome natural enclosed outdoor space for her children to play.  The bright yellow sunflower walls would be replaced with bright yellow outdoor sunlight!  The decision was easy after that!

Moving day was surreal since it seemed that it was only such a short time ago that she moved into the space she was now leaving.  Only a few short weeks later (at the end of April 2012) and more painting and cleaning, the Stitch Lounge in it's current location, was officially re-born!  The mom continues to be very happy, selling what she loves and uses, teaching and chatting anything sewing related to anyone that wants to listen.  She still loves to sew more than anything except for her two sweet children and husband of course!
